Social Care Administration

The Social Care Administration is one of the departments within the Deanship of Student Affairs at Kuwait University. It is dedicated to providing social, psychological, and financial support to students to achieve psychological stability and create a conducive environment for their academic success.

Vision:

The administration aspires to excel in providing high-quality social and psychological services to Kuwait University students and to be a model in this field.

Mission:

The administration aims to utilize its resources to the fullest to provide psychological and social stability and to meet the financial needs of Kuwait University students, thereby creating an educational environment that meets the aspirations of its beneficiaries.

Objectives:

  1. Assist university students in overcoming social, psychological, and financial obstacles to enable them to perform well in their academic studies.
  2. Address and resolve negative behavioral and social phenomena related to university students.
  3. Develop the administrative and technical aspects of the administration and use modern technology to achieve these goals.

Departments under Social Care Administration:

  1. Social Supervision Department (Male Students – Female Students):

    This department focuses on the social, psychological, and academic aspects of university students. Its importance lies in the services it provides to students and in easing the difficulties they face during their university journey.

    Tasks:

    • Participate in orientation meetings for new students each semester to explain the role of the social supervision office and contribute to resolving various student issues.
    • Assist students in overcoming social problems encountered during their academic studies and provide guidance and advice.
    • Prepare social reports for students with social circumstances who wish to suspend or continue their studies after a break.
    • Conduct case studies for students seeking financial aid (married students) or assistance from the student fund (non-Kuwaiti students).
    • Monitor the status of students receiving financial aid and support each semester.
    • Approve clearance forms for graduating or withdrawing students after ensuring no outstanding amounts are due.
  2. Student Employment Department:

    This department provides job opportunities for students within the university facilities. The aim is to optimize students' free time and develop their skills for future work environments.

    Conditions for Student Employment:

    • The student should not have more than one general warning.
    • Employment is limited to registered university students.
    • Graduate students and language center students are not eligible.
    • The student must have completed at least one academic semester.

    Required Documents:

    • Approval letter from the desired work department.
    • Open a bank account with a local bank.
    • Latest class schedule.

    Students can work up to 40 hours a month, 10 hours a week, and 3 hours a day at a rate of 2.5 KD per hour, totaling 100 KD per month.

  3. Financial and Social Aid Follow-Up Department:

    This department oversees the distribution of financial aid and social assistance to eligible students and coordinates with various university departments and external organizations.

    Tasks:

    • Supervise the input of financial data for students into the social aid system.
    • Print and copy financial aid records and send them to the finance department for disbursement.
    • Prepare monthly and periodic statistics related to student data.
    • Coordinate with social supervision, information systems, and finance departments for student financial matters.
    • Address issues related to financial discrepancies and retroactive aid.
    • Provide certificates confirming the receipt or non-receipt of financial aid.

    Documents Required for Certificates:

    • Copy of civil ID and marriage contract if the husband is collecting the certificate on behalf of the student.
    • Copy of the civil ID of a close relative if collecting on behalf of the student.
  4. Disability Department:

    Established in 1995, this department is dedicated to supporting students with disabilities by providing educational, professional, medical, and spatial services to help them integrate into society.

    Objectives:

    • Raise awareness about the needs of students with disabilities.
    • Promote social support to overcome disabilities and integrate individuals into society.
    • Provide psychological stability and balance in building students' personalities.
    • Remove academic, social, and psychological barriers.
    • Facilitate necessary services for students to perform their roles effectively.
    • Encourage and highlight the role of students with disabilities in society.

    Types of Disabilities Registered:

    • Physical disability
    • Visual impairment
    • Physical disability
    • Hearing impairment (deaf and mute)
    • Learning disabilities
    • Intellectual disability
    • Multiple disabilities

    Services Provided:

    • Open a file for each student with proof of disability and provide a special ID and parking sticker.
    • Arrange transportation from home to the university for students in need.
    • Provide a writer for visually impaired or physically disabled students during exams.
    • Send detailed reports about students with disabilities to their instructors each semester.
    • Cover the cost of printing Braille books for visually impaired students.
    • Provide sign language interpreters for hearing-impaired students.
    • Offer specialized computer equipment for visually impaired students.
    • Exempt students with disabilities from receiving additional financial aid if they receive aid from other sources.
    • Allow students with disabilities to work in university centers as part of the student employment program.
    • Collaborate with relevant organizations for additional services.
    • Organize awareness programs and activities about disability issues.
    • Arrange local and international trips for students with disabilities.
